YouTube karaoke system
The vision is to make an interactive system for YouTube parties that anyone can participate in. It can be totally automated, but there could be a supervisory piece that would help to shape the total user experience. Three pieces 1. Audience submits YouTube videos to the server. The server would have a we interface that is available to anyone who is in the local LAN that lets them submit YouTube videos. The videos go into a queue that can be reviewed by the administrator. Submissions could come in by way of a website or they could send them I directly from the YouTube web page via the share by email facility.
The administrator sees the queue. The queue is prioritized by IP address so that one person can’t dominate the program. This could be weighted so that some people CAN dominate it. The administrator view would show the song along with its length. From this view the admin could cancel a song from the queue or tell it to skip to the next song.
The player server grabs the next video in the queue and plays it on the big screen. Make it so the server can display down voting happening in real time. The player might also display the name of the next song in queue.
You could set it up so that submitting songs costs something, payable by PayPal or some other method. Downvoting would also incur a charge. Allow for down voting from the audience. After a certain number of downvotes the song is skipped to the next song. The audience client would be set up to run on a mobile device like an iPod or any other phone. Something might need to be done to prevent the audiences sucking up all the bandwidth by playing videos. This could be used as something to happen over the web or in a closed system like a bar or coffee shop.
