'Wednesday Wild Ones'

‘Wednesday Wild Ones’

Today I volunteered to help with the kids program at the church. The school has in service for two hours in the morning on Wednesdays so the church feeds the kids and provides some games. There are about 6-10 kids that show up.

Jo has been doing this for the last few weeks. When she announced that today’s activity was going to be making slime, one of the oldest boys said he didn’t want to do that, that it was too “babyish”. Jo suggested a potato battery, and I volunteered to make it so. Not hat I’d ever done this before, but what he heck.

Yesterday I went out and got the supplies and I was able, after some trial and error, watching a YouTube video, and borrowing a multimeter, to make a LED glow with power provided by a few potatoes.

Today I did the demonstration with the kids. Wasn’t able to have each of them do it themselves because I didn’t had enough things, but hey all had fun, as did I. They want me to do something else scientific next week.
