Live journal exodus
For many years I kept an online journal on livejournal.com, as did many others. I missed the beginnings of the blogging revolution that happened on Wordpress, in fact I am pretty much johnny come lately here. I like the ability to have more control of my look and feel, and if I want to take my toys and go elsewhere’ I can do that. But what about all that history I had on LJ? Sure, it’s been languishing for a while, but it sure would be nice to bring it all back together in one place.
Turns out you can do just that. Wordpress provides an import tool that can pull all my posts from the old live journal days into this new blog. As You can see over there on the right, I’ve done just that: pulled all my old livejournal posts into this blog. The import tool was really easy: I didn’t have to do anything other than type my LJ user and password into a web screen, provide a password for the private posts, and wait. It did take two tries as the first time I did this my Safari browser timed out. The second time it worked, and now I have all my old history ported over here.
You can now see my whole sordid online posting history here. Now that I have done this, I want to see what I can do about my Facebook posts.
