googling via SMS text

The iPhone people don’t get to have all the fun from being able to get useful information in moments. You can do this, too, from any SMS text-able phone.

To use this, you can get started by sending “help” to 466453 (which is how you spell ‘google’ using the letters on a normal phone keypad). For reference, I put the result below.

Briefly, you can find local restaurants and other things, you can find the definitions of words (it did rather well with “d thelema” and “d ecclesia gnostica catholica”). It’s actually a little addictive once you get going.

one thing that bugs me is that I did several things about slc (salt lake city - it likes the abbreviation just fine, tho) and eventually it sent me a text saying that my default location is now Salt Lake City. If anyone figures out how to fix that, I’d love to know.

This is free from google, but if you are on a limited text plan, you should keep that in mind, but if you are on such a plan, I am sure that you already do.

I can’t wait until the next time I’m getting someone from the airport for such easy access to the current flight status.
