Movie: The Wackness
watched a movie the other day called The Wackness because it was mentioned in a recent Time magazine article about the depiction of pot dealers in modern movies. The movie was apparently played at Sundance (or so the copy I saw kept telling me at the bottom of the screen) so it’s a kind of artsy thing seemingly shot with a sepia filter. The main character is a pot dealer in NYC, and it takes place in the summer between high school and college. He sells to lots of people under the cover of being an ice cream vendor. Ben Kingsley plays a “weird old guy” who is a shrink. The main character, Shapiro, is one of his clients and pays for his sessions in bags. I’m not even gonna try to describe the plot, but following docr’s lead, i will say that while there is not explicit nudity or violence, there’s no question what’s happening in a few steamy scenes.
