drumcircle aftermath

Last night we had the 5th anniversary “Erie Drumcircle Fire” in my yard. Actually today is the 5th anniversary, but close enough. It was well-attended, about 60+ people; I counted 50 for sure and a whole bunch more showed up afterwards.. some highlights:

he: have you seen Dark Knight yet? me: nope he: you’re the joker me: huh? he: the character, the joker. That’s you. me: huh.. really. he: yeah, when you go to see it, i’d like to go me: um.. ok.. (we’re scheduled to see it on Tuesday Monday, but now I don’t want to wait)

It is quite frequent that even after all these years, someone finally makes it out for the first time. Had a few of these, including a couple who came out after her high school reunion. Another old friend and I kept each other up way past our bedtimes telling old and new stories. And I got someone who said that she would love to read a column that i might write of “thoughts for the day”. I would enjoy doing such a thing, but have no idea where or how to seek such a forum and audience. There were some friends who I would have liked to have seen who weren’t here, but hey, if everyone I want to see came out every time, it would be even bigger than it is. I like the size of it, and after all this time I still enjoy it. It’s becoming a bit of a platform for me lately. Nothing dramatic this time, I had 7 tiki torches which I lit in Babalon star order. We didn’t burn Barney or anything, but we did burn a book, just for the experience. Nothing political, and I stopped short of reading a children’s story, tossing the pages into the fire as I went (although I really wanted to do this, but when i mentioned the idea, I was told it was a bit over the top) The fire was not outrageous, in fact we didn’t have to add any logs after it got going, just stirring and rearranging as we burned one big stump that had some kind of rubber melted onto it. It did start out huge because the pit was overflowing with cardboard boxes and stuft. Another favorite bit is when pieces of my life get to interact. I have friends in a lot of circles, and several of these circles intersect in my yard once a month in the summer. My former boss was there, and for once I didn’t introduce him as “my (former) boss”. I am sure he appreciated it. Got to do some laying on hands healing work on a couple folks, including one that hadn’t experienced it before, and another who actually gave me a written testimonial after the first time i worked on him. I don’t understand how it works, but for once I got someone who could “see” what was going on to tell me what he “saw”. Red, blue, turning into clear as i pulled it out. Nice to get some outside confirmation that there is something going on there. Got to see many nice dancers, and although I didn’t drum much, I got some good stuff in. Many yummy spirits and such shared, that’s always a big plus. got to affirm and just “be” with the fact that I’m a flake and I don’t always get things done quickly, but folks love me anyways. I need to hear that, and sometimes I even can. Oh yeah, and our house. M and I have been cleaning the place up a lot the last week. Usually I don’t like the idea of people coming into my house because in addition to being cluttered, it’s been filthy. M says I have been working my ass off, but really i think all i’ve been doing is picking up fluff. That’s my story and i’m sticking with it. I got several compliments on my festive red skirt, and I am pretty sure my feet have many new holes in them today.
