an accidental self-portrait in a restaurant restroom. For those
that don’t know, for some reason some places put ice in the
urinals.

this stuff is called bullwhip kelp, foot inserted for scale.
They’re a bit long to use as a real bullwhip, but could hurt a
lot.

The way to the hidden cove, which has a waterfall. We had to
time this with low tide so we could get there without actually
swimming.

The waterfall at the hidden cove. One thing I noticed here was
that the water was not very salty, due most likely to these
springs.

interesting striations in the sand. There is black basalt
breaking down from the shore, but not sure where the brown comes
from.

Michelle and Gina on the way back from the hidden cove. The
water was up to our thighs. You could do it dry, but barnacles are
sharp.

The Oregon coast is quite rocky, and rock formations a little
out from the shore like this are pretty common.

the black "river rock" is actually basalt breaking down and
going to the sea. I don’t understand why the dividing line is so
sharp.
