Who do your write your journal to?
When you write here, who do you write to?
Do you write to yourself, as a reference to what happened when?
Do you write to a loved one?
Do you write to generations to come, as though they’ll care what you said? (While there’s more shared writing being done now than possibly in any other age, but it’s allephemeral - almost none of this will be discovered, dusty, in some attic somewhere 50 years hence. )
Do you write as to the judge and jury who would determine whether you had made good use of your time on earth?
