CPAP night 1

I pickedup my CPAP machine yesterday. Its about the size of a clockradio and really is two things: the blower and the humidifier, which strangely are powered by one power brick.

I got the nose only mask. The dude at the sleep place said that they usually reserve the whole face thing for extreme cases, that it’s a lot easier to use the nose one, one just has to learn to keep mouth shut. Turns out this is a bit easier than it seems at first because if you do open your mouth, you make a break in the seal and the air being blown in the mask now wants to go out your mouth via a path that usually doesn’t pass air. It’s a bit like opening a window in a windstorm..

I didn’t get home til late last night. It took a few minutes to set it up. I don’t have a bedside table so it had to sit on the floor. I put it on. It wasn’t as noisy as I had expected it to be. I don’t think that i slept very well with it. My nose kept getting itchy, and when i would remove the mask to scratch it there would be this big wind and stuff..

I didnt keep it on all night, after a while i took it off. I don’t know what time that was. I think it is important that i have a way to easily know what time it is when i am in bed so I can tell if i have slept, even if it doesnt seem like i did.
