WTF: Lookin out my back door
What is with these stupid boring pictures of my yard?
I’ve been asked that a couple times, so it’ probably on many folks’ minds. An explanation might make this more understandable. Since I got my camera phone, I have been trying to use it in the cool, network-enabled ways that I have seen people use. For some time i have had this idea I have called the “six pictures a day project”. Flickr had a limit at first to six uploads a day, and that sounded like an interesting quota. Could I find six things a day to take pictures of?
One way to do that is to find new things. Another way is to take pictures of the same thing while it changes. Given that I started playing with twitxr in late March, I decided that it might be interesting to have a series of pictures of my house taken day by day. Between the beginning of April and mid-May my yard is going to go from “totally” dead to brimming with life. The changes from the beginning of the month to the end of the month are dramatic, but what about on a day to day basis?
That’s what the “lookin out my back door” pics are about - their value is in the aggregate at the end of the project, not in the individual pictures themselves. It seems like nothing is changing, but this is not the case. In addition to the natural changes which will be happening in the coming weeks, there are other changes. Can you find them?
