who’s on your friends’ list?

I was just reviewing my friends list. haven’t done that in a while, although I have added a couple recently. Almost everyone on my list is someone I actually know, but there are two exceptions. One is lucifero, who is on my list just because I noticed that somehow he had put me on his. I have no idea who he is, except that he always posts in Italian and occasionally has some really nice pictures. I just noticed that he’s taken me off his list, but I think i’m gonna keep him there just because it’s fun have stuff there that I can’t read. I recently added jwz. I think I shared an email or two with him about 15 years ago because he posted (in the pre-www days) a postscript file that allowed you to make customized J-cards for cassettes. I think he was one of the original Netscape developers who took his buyout money and built himself a dance club in San Francisco. What I have noticed is that things that show up on his LJ often show up on BoingBoing or Slashdot or both a few days later. He had a great comment on a recent post in which he was complaining about not being able to get bit torrents working.. the quote ‘“False, temporary buzz” is my middle name.’ Yes, the essence of Internet fame. Nearly everyone else are folks I know on a regular basis here at home, a few are friends from back home in Michigan. Much as everyone loves to hate LJ, it is a great way to keep in touch with folks. So does it mean anything if you’re on their list but they’re not on yours, or vice versa? not for the strangers, to be sure, i mean jwz has reportedly 2500 “friends”. Oh, the price of being trendy.
