a short treatise on mead definitions
Before i destroy these Rocky Mountain Meadery labels, I thought I might share the differences in the different kinds of “mead”.
Traditional Mead: traditional meads celebrate pure honey. It has no fruit, herbs or spices added.
Melomel: A melomel is made by adding fruit other than grapes or apples to honey wine.
Pyment: a pyment is made by adding grapes to honey wine.
Metheglin: a metheglin is by adding herbs and spices to honey wine.
Cyser: a cyser is made by adding apples or cider to honey wine.
