I got the boot!!

I got my cast cut off yesterday afternoon, and was given an orthopedic boot. These have gotten a little more fancy in the last 4 years. It’s got a little Nike-style air pump on it which fills up an air bladder to provide a snugger fit.

I am allowed to put as much weight on it as I can tolerate for the next 5 weeks. This time I am not mending a bone at the same time. When I had an orthopedic boot in 2002, my instructions were to keep the weight off the foot for 6 weeks.

Today I have been trying different combinations, two crutches, one crutch, no crutch. I can walk some now with no crutch (more than I could do this morning). Hopefully the crutches will be unnecessary within a few days.
