so how bout that weekend..
so how bout that weekend..
went on a little road trip with M over the weekend. She picked me up at work, we drove to Cripple Creek where she had made reservations at a bed & breakfast called The Carr Manor. This is the old high school (dozen or so rooms) turned into a lovely little inn. I recommend it highly if you want to spend a night in Cripple Creek.
Well, I’d recommend it more heartily if I’d actually slept in it. For various reasons, I was awake all night. Once I was actualy trying to sleep, i just laid there. Much on my mind, unaccountably weepy.
Saturday morning, I drove down from Cripple Creek to the Royal Gorge Bridge, where we spent most of the day. Michelle had always had fear of heights.. phobic, even. She demonstrated this on our walk across the bridge. I told her i knew some Jedi mind tricks and that she didn’t need to be that way any more if she didn’t want to. The NLP “fast phobia” cure was quite useful here, and we walked across the bridge twice more later in the day.
We spent most of the day at Royal Gorge. We did the inclined railway down into the gorge (another thing she mightn’t have been comfortable doing), and finally the tram. The only thing not done was the swing that flings you out over the canyon. As i write now, i think i should’ve done it, it was $20 solo or $17.50 in tandem or more.
We finally left royal gorge. M drove, and I sorta slept (i was tired from not sleepin) but I woke up just in time to stop at the wolfensberger exit (Castle Rock). There are these brightly painted art things on the side that you can sorta see from the freeway, but it’s not clear what they are. I suspect that very few people stop and figure out what that is, to take a look at them closely. I thought I did that once, but i really did this time, and I took some pictures of them.
we finally got home and watched some tv.. Sunday morning attended an oasis meeting. Lots of things going on.. we’re moving the temple out of the independent space we have been using and into the Isha’s & Diarmid’s house.. again. Rite of Saturn to happen in October, and a barge ritual at d-fest.
Afterwards, we went up to the Colorado Medieval Festival, which is somehow supposed to compete with the renaissance faire. In short, I wasn’t impressed. It took place in a grazing field, cow plops here and there, no trees, nor vegetation of any kind. Kinda burning man meets .. well not quite renaissance festival. Maybe it’ll grow into something..
Home again, more movies and such.. and finally to bed, end of a long weekend.
