American refugees
I’ve been having a hard time getting my head around the idea of “American refugees” from the hurricane. perhaps this makes me some kind of racist, but when I think of “refugees”, i’m thinkin third world country with famine or war or something. NPR used the word “diaspora” to describe what’s been happening to folks from New Orleans.
Guess even we are just one bad day away from that sort of thing.
