LiVEJOURNAL: A Bully Pulpit for the Masses

Step right up, people. In … The Future … Everyone will be famous for five minutes. You can have it in livejournal. Livejournal makes your very deepest darkest secrets, even the ones that you thought you marked /SECRET=YES, are just a google search away from some bored sysadmin.

So we’re doing ok, thanks for the thoughts. Yesterday was Puck’s birthday, so Craig brought Puck & Damien out to the house and being the gimp, immediately put the birthday boy to work, pointing him at the freezer, the pantry, and the box of Mormon food we got from Michelle’s mother on xmas. More about Mormon Food later. He made the most bitchin’ shrimp gumbo with chunks of kielbasa (which Will funnily pronounced KEEL-ba-SAA), we opened three bottles of Port Light 1.1, had visits from everyone at the temple house.. it was my contrived family gathering. I sat in the kitchen at one point, watching michelle and Puck discussing something very passionately, and the gathering of smokers on my porch, and realized that these were my people, my chosen family. I also realized that I have them as a resource, that it’s ok to be served. Michelle’s having a hard time with that, especially from me. She says that I have to heal myself. But my trick doesnt work on me, and it does on her. She’s stopped protesting when I touch things out: a touch to her third eye, hands on either side of her neck, behind her knees, down her legs to her ankle. less than two seconds, and she clearly has some kind of dramatic relief as a smile plays across her face. I don’t know what it is, but I’m beginning to understand it. Last night I did a little experiment.. I had Puck hold my hand and touch michelle’e third eye while I pushed some stuff through. Michelle said she felt it, but it was less than usual.. more diffuse. Puck said that he felt it coming through him and lingering, tingling, his heart chakra area. I have a new theory: it comes from the heart, and conscious channeling could become conscious transmitting, because if I can push it through to you, and you can feel where it goes in yourself, you might find the muscle to push it yourself. just a thought.

Mormon Food: It seems to me that Mormons practice a form of institutionalized survivalism. I have been told that it is Mormon doctrine that they’re supposed to have enough food to keep their family for seven years for whatever apocalypse is supposed to befall the world before The Just Get Theirs. So they have these granaries and warehouses called Bishop’s Storehouses (sic?) filled with grain. Folks in the church work in these places as volunteers and do things like fill large coffe can-sized cans of sugar, macaroni, powdered milk, wheat berries (you could plant those, you know), etc. for storage, and in return get to take some home, too. This isn’t something you set and forget, either. Basically, it’s a huge rotational system, with new stuff going in all the time, and aged stuff going out. Not unfit to eat, but maybe not so good for staking your post-apocalyptic survival on. Apparently it’s a good thing to give to your relatives who might be struggling, and not necessarily Mormon, in the hopes that their shining example might inspire us heathens (or is it Gentiles? I forget.. Mormons consider Jews Gentiles. Go figure.) to find the truth as told to us by the Prophet, Joseph Smith. These gestures can get pretty extravagant. They might have invented the idea of Habitat for Humanity first, doing things like replacing Michelle’s house’s roof when it needed it. As I go forward in my spiritual path, the more I realize how it is perfect for any given person to be practicing his own path in his own way. I might not want to be a Mormon, but I respect that they seem to walk their talk. If some Global Apocalyptic Event kills off anyone who isn’t ready for years of famine for whatever reason, and leaves most of western civilization, and maybe even eastern civilization, in shambles, I’d put money that the Mormons will have a significant presence in that new world order, if for no other reason that they had the larders to weather it out.

So we’re expecting the car, and possibly Isha, soon, and we’ll be going to a hospital to have our injuries documented and treated.
