I’ve occasionally had the thought, when some new story is dominating the common conversation, what else is going on. The first time I remember having this thought was during the OJ Simpson trial - nothing else was getting any air, and I wondered what else might be happening in the darkness…
It’s recurred probably a dozen times over the years, and today I was wondering what was happening but not being tracked. Thing is, in this time, there are Those In Power who are being honest about it - Bannon calls it “flooding the zone”.
There are some things happening in the other parts of the government, we aren’t hearing about them.
It brings to mind the idea of the 80/20 rule. In this case, 80% of the coverage is about 20% of what’s happening. What if there was a news service that sliced off the noisy part and left us to know the rest? How would one do that?
Just a thought that recurs occasionally…
