Safety Function Test
1. REMOVE MAGAZINE
2. UNLOAD AND CLEAR THE RIFLE
3. CHECK CHAMBER
Follow ALL of the steps on page 7 for CLEARING YOUR RIFLE:
- Pull Charging Handle Assembly to rear.
- Check again that Chamber is clear.
- Close the Bolt Carrier Assembly.
- Do not pull Trigger. Leave Hammer in cocked position.
⚠️ WARNING:
If the rifle fails any of the following tests, continued use could result in injury or death
to you or those around you.
- Place Safety Lever in the “SAFE” position, point
rifle in a safe direction,
and pull Trigger.
🛑 THE HAMMER MUST NOT FALL.
- Place Safety Lever in FIRE position.
Pull the Trigger.
✅ THE HAMMER SHOULD FALL.
Note:
For the following check, “SLOW” is defined as about 1/4 to 1/2 of the normal trigger release speed.
- Hold Trigger to the rear.
- Pull Charging Handle to the rear and release.
- Then release pressure on the Trigger slowly and
smoothly without hesitation or stops,
until the Trigger is fully forward.
🎧 AN AUDIBLE CLICK SHOULD BE HEARD — THE HAMMER MUST NOT FALL.
Repeat the FIRE position test FIVE
TIMES.
> The rifle must not malfunction during any of these
five tests.
> If it does, have the rifle checked by a qualified
gunsmith.
Universal Gun Safety Rules
- Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
- Always point the muzzle in a safe direction.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
- Never rely on a mechanical safety.
- Keep gun unloaded and action open until ready to shoot.
- Know your target and what’s beyond it.
- Use only the correct ammunition for your firearm.
- Know what to do in the event of ammunition malfunction.
- Wear protective ear and eye equipment.
- Keep firearm free from obstructions and well maintained.
- Don’t modify your firearm.
- Do not mix guns with alcohol, drugs, or fatigue.
Safe Firearm Storage
- Store firearms securely and separately from ammunition.
- Store guns unloaded in a locked location inaccessible to children.
- Safe storage of guns prevents accidents, theft, and misuse.
- Safe storage includes the use of lockboxes, gun safes, and cable locks.
- Store firearms unloaded and with trigger locks or in a locking container.
- Thoroughly check that firearms are unloaded before storing them.
- If you remove items from storage, confirm they are still unloaded.
- A family member borrowing a gun must return it to storage still unloaded.
